Bloodstone ( a.k.a Heliotrope) is a stone or mineral known mostly for its bright spots of Red Jasper within a translucent to dark green base of Chalcedony. Inclusions of Hematite also lend to it's classic coloring. 

One of the origins of the name comes from Christian beliefs that the stone at Jesus' feet captured drops of blood from his crucifixion. It was also historically believed to staunch bleeding. 

Bloodstone is popularized metaphysically for its connections to provoking deep thought, inner strength, motivation, courage and manifesting. People turn to this stone for invoking a sense of confidence and a reminder that you have the inner power to change your outcomes in life. 

Like all crystals in the Quartz family, it has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 - 7 making it a relatively durable and easy to care for stone for collectors.
